“When one door closes…" a sentiment shared by any creative looking to find their truth and escape the self-imposed prison of the ‘idle mind’. But for native New Yorker Ryan Zuli, this idea sparked the beginning of an artistic overhaul. A shift in perspective for how the psych crooner views himself and the world around him.
Coming down from the incredible high of his debut On Human Freakout Mountain, with several US tours under his belt and a nod from Rolling Stone, Zuli found himself in-between where he was and where he's going...embracing change and keeping an open mind to the possibilities.
“For me, OHFM summarized my entire life up until that point. A long exhale of influences and ideas that took a lifetime to craft and articulate. Once it was released, I felt like a new person. I started to re-evaluate my outlook on life and the way I express myself. It felt like the closure I needed to dig deeper.”
If Freakout Mountain encapsulates the tremor and hysteria of early adulthood—“ur mistaken”, the first offering of what’s to come, soothes the listener with lush falsetto, soulful melody, and Zuli’s signature distortion. Showcasing his expanding pallet, while continuing to straddle the line between timeless and timely.
While “ur mistaken” may not be the culmination of Zuli’s foray into the unknown, it serves as a testament to what he’s learned, to enjoy the moment.

"ur mistaken" is out everywhere on June 21.
